FAQs

Interested in joining us for a class? We got you, Mama. Here is everything you need to know.

Stroller Fitness (Strides/Barre/360)

Can I try a class before I join?

Your first class is always free! Click the link at the top of your screen to request your trial class.

Do I need to pre-register or can I just show up?

While you can absolutely just show up, we would prefer you pre-register. By registering, you ensure you get details about where to meet us and what to expect.

What do I need to bring to class

For you:

  • Wear sturdy gym shoes and clothes you can comfortably workout in
  • Yoga mat or towel for floor exercises and cool down
  • Resistance band
  • Plenty of water
  • Towel for your sweat -- you WILL sweat!

For your littles:

  • Snacks
  • Toys
  • Diaper bag with essentials
  • Any type of stroller

If you do not have a resistance band or dumbbells for your first class your instructor will have extras you can borrow.

I just had a baby, when can I join Stroller Fitness classes?

You can begin attending class with your doctor's clearance to begin exercising, typically after your six week postpartum appointment.

Can I attend classes if I am pregnant?

Absolutely! We encourage expectant moms to continue to exercise throughout their pregnancies as long as everything has been approved by their physician. We can modify any exercise that poses a challenge as you progress through your pregnancy.

FIT4MOM® recommends you obtain your doctor’s approval prior to beginning any exercise program. If pregnant, please speak with your physician before your first day.

How will I know if the class location has changed due to weather?

In case of inclement weather, outdoor class locations may change. Pre-enroll for classes to be emailed with weather location changes or cancellations. You can also check the schedule in your account.

Do I need to be a runner to attend these classes?

Absolutely not! FIT4MOM is for moms of all fitness levels. We meet for a warm up, then power walk or jog to each exercise station. You exercise at the pace you feel most comfortable.

At what age can my baby be in a jogger?

As a general guideline, when your baby can hold his/her head up, he/she can ride in a jogger. But, we suggest that you follow your own stroller manufacturer’s guidelines. You can use a head roll and bolster to make your baby even more secure. With shock absorbers and recline features, the age can be quite young.

Do I need a jogging stroller for the workout?

Jogging strollers are not required. As long as the stroller is sturdy, not prone to tipping and all children can be safely strapped into their seats for the duration of class, it will work just fine!

What do I do if my baby doesn't want to be in the stroller, gets fussy, or I need to feed/change them?

All children must be secured in their strollers for the duration of the class. You are also welcome to babywear using a structured supportive carrier. With that said, our classes are designed to keep the kids moving and engaged by incorporating songs and various props to keep them engaged. If you need to change, nurse, or console your baby, you are more than welcome to do so and rejoin the workout when you and your baby are ready. At FIT4MOM we get it -- you are in good company.

Can my older children walk along or ride their bike during class?

Safety is our first priority, so we do not allow kids under a certain age to be out of the stroller during class.

For times when a school age child is on summer vacation or another school holiday, please email us at chicagonorthwest@fit4mom.com to discuss the guidelines for them to be able to attend class safely with you.
